Sundance, Utah, USA - Still more

Sundance location (for those who are interested - "A" below ):

 Couple of views of the Sundance facilities - rather creative pictures only for the reader is actually more interested in the people.  I put them here just to illustrate the log cabin approach to the facilities at Sundance.

In these images you will see Merrill Finlayson, Lynne Felt - Nan and Liam Kayrooz and Aidan Kayrooz and (maybe) this writer - Grandpa (Paul Felt, Jr).

Location numerous without Wifi-so catch up-Sundance in Utah

Our travels have taken us to too many locations with limited wifi so this entry will be a catch-up Version 1.

From California we flew to Salt Lake City.  Some drama there as the folks who were scheduled to pick us up seem to have gone "walk-a-bout" Australian for MIA or missing in action.  So with some phone calls on our phone which could not receive return phone calls we next had my brother John Felt pick us up from where they were waiting for us - Leatherbys Ice Cream.  John rolled up on his 36 foot motorhome (we needed that to load all our bags inside so this bus was good.

We stayed with John and Kathleen Felt Covey that evening with the following day being transported by a specialist limo driver and site seeing coordinator Merrill Finlayson (Merrill and Paul have been friends since teenagers - Merrill a widower and retired policeman kinda knows the mountains as is 'real cowboy').

7 April 2014 San Franciso

Arrived at San Franciso with tired boys - oops, worn out grandparents to San Francisco Airport then a seamless drive to our hotel - Comfort Inn by the Bay.  Certainly all it says it is.

Then drop the bags and on too the Crooked Street, then to the unique Cable Car.

Then, of course, to Ghiradelli Chocolates at Fisherman's Wharf (remember we are traveling with Grandma).  All in one day mind you.  But boy, were the chocies and ice cream nice

4 April Friday -

Guess what?  SHOPPING DAY.  Great for the girls, Lynne and Carol, but I suppose it gave Paul and Jerry Tolman time for the boys stuff.  All good yet nothing more to report.

The Kayrooz boys arrive

Aidan and Liam arrived LAX - exhausted yet excited but no more than their grandparents.  After 2.5 hrs in customs they were looking forward to something other than yet another line of tired people

The picture below show Carol Tolman along with Aidan and Liam in the Tolman home, Orange Grove, California.  As a point of interest Carol, as Sister Archibald, served an LDS Mission to Australia from where Paul first met her in Hobart Tasmania when he to was serving a mission.  Carol and Lynne have been best friends since that time - 1964.

3 April 2014 Thursday "A Long Day"

Jet lag will need to wait another day.  Our motel, the Castle Inn within walking distance of Disneyland was to make sure we maximized our experiences.

5:30 am for a pick-up by Jerry Tolman for breakfast at the Los Alamitos Race Course.

Boy, do people traveling do some crazy things just for a new experience.  Breakfast of pancakes,eggs and bacon with Lynne having multiple serves of hot chocolate - her favourite.  Very interesting location as we saw a daily event of the trainers with their horses and up close as well.  We arrived just as the sun was commencing it climb over the hills to out shine the previously lighted track.

2 April Wednesday - Day with Carol and Jerry Tolman

It was the summer of 1964 as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that Paul first meet Carol Archibald who was too was a serving missionary in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.  To Paul she was Sister Archibald and to her, Paul was known as Elder Felt.

Jump forward some years.  Carol has been released from her missionary service and arrived home to meet her beloved Jerry Tolman, marry and reside in Orange County, California.  Home of Disneyland.

Lynne too developed a long relationship with Sister Archibald thus the Felts and Tolmans.

The Tolmans picked us up from the Castle Inn and we spent the day with them including Mexican meal; Carol and Lynne shopping; with Paul and Jerry exchanging war stories.  How time flies, Paul is a youngster in his 70th year and Jerry just approaching his 77th
